July 1815. After the battle of Waterloo, the Allies are advancing into France to put an end to Napoleon's governement. In the plains of Champagne around the village of Bergères-Montmirail, a detachement of British and Prussian soldiers fall into a French ambuse.

  | ...and start marching towards the Loire river. |

  | The Allies take possession of the village... |

  | ...and settle down to rest. |
